The Green Man and Brown Mountain: Saving a forest: Victoria

An inspiring story with delightful illustrations of the flora and fauna of Brown Mountain in East Gippsland.  One person can make a difference and one person connected with others can make the world of difference:

Based on true events. It is the story of our nephew, Andrew, and how his love for nature as a child converted to greatness by taking action, individually and with others, to save the unique animals and plants of Brown Mountain in East Gippsland, Victoria. Their individual and group actions of tracking and mapping species filled the gap created by government departments that may have seen the mountain logged for woodchips.

Instead they discovered that the Long-footed Potoroo was still living there along with many other unique species and for their perseverance and dedication these were all considered in a landmark court case that finally saw the logging stopped and Brown Mountain; saved in the ‘nick of time’.

First picture book: The Three Broad Beans
'Le Tre Favette': An Italian fairytale

Gracie's mother Chiarina Scala was a wonderful storyteller.

Gracie remembers with fondness and joy the many Italian fairytale stories her mother would tell her - filled with trials, tragedy, heroism and hope.

Some she could find retold in books and films but many had only the oral storytelling helping them survive.  Wanting to pass on the story to her nephews and nieces Gracie began the journey of writing down and translating
one of these stories to be shared and passed onto all.

This charming little picture storybook is full of original and vibrant illustrations and has Italian phrases throughout the story.
The Italian version is written on the last two pages.   Suitable for 6-12 years and anyone interested in Italian culture and their own piece of oral history in print.

Gracie is available for story reading and display of artwork at your primary school.
